Global Youth Service Day – April 28-30 or Through The Whole Month

The month of April includes an opportunity for youth around the world to serve their communities. Global Youth Service Day — the largest annual celebration of young volunteers — will be marked from April 28-30 this year, though the whole month of April can be used to serve.

Global Youth Service Day is one of three annual activities that our Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has asked stakes to support and we are excited to work with you in any way.

Youth can serve on their own, with friends, with their families, or in a joint project with other ward or stake members and neighbors in their area. Talk to your youth leaders for any ward or stake activities planned.

JustServe is a platform connecting community service needs with volunteers. Users can search for projects by location and set filters based on their interests and talents.

As you meet with your congregation’s adult and youth leaders, please consider the following guidelines:

1. Explain the focus (a worldwide day of service for youth)

2. Discuss things that the youth leaders would like to do.

3. Try to help them match their desire with existing opportunities.

4. If you cannot find any opportunities that fit, contact us (Stake JustServe Specialists), and let’s see how we can craft a specific service for your group using our stake outreach resources.

5. Allow youth leaders to contact community service sponsors and plan the event with your support

6. Ensure that pictures are taken and that a summary is provided to the stake (us again) so that we can submit to our Area leaders. (more on this later).

We are here to help in any way, so please let us know how we can be of service to you. We have many different sponsors that we work with that may be able to provide unique youth opportunities based upon the direction your ward takes.
